Amon was the chief god of Thebes, also known as Amon Ra. His temple, Karnak, could be the largest religious structure ever built. He was represtnted by a ram or a man with a ram's head. The Egyptians believed he took the form of a human king to procreate. His name means, "hidden," and was usually painted blue, the symbol of invisibility. His wife was Mut. They had a son together, Khonsu, god of the moon.
